McCarthy sideboard

It’s always a delightful task to start a new project and with an open brief the enjoyment becomes exponential.

We were approached by the client during the Christmas show at RHS Wisley and asked to visit their home to see a space they had earmarked for something to sit with their existing antique French walnut dining table and dresser.

We spent a while at the drawing board to design a range of options based on the brief and after a couple of rounds of feedback between ourselves and the client the final design was settled on.

The design of the sideboard takes inspiration from neo-classical styling and great British designers like George Hepplewhite. Tapered feet curve into the under-frame which follows the curve of the recessed handles of the cabinet and drawers set with beautiful burr walnut.

Three soft-close drawers give plenty of useful space, and adjustable shelves in the cupboards give function to the flowing form of the cabinet.
