Synagogue ark, Buckhurst Hill

We designed and made this magnificent ark for a Synagogue in Buckhurst Hill, London. Our brief was to create a movable cabinet to keep holy scrolls in, so we concealed lockable castors under each of the legs, which make it easy to move around but are invisible at first glance.

The stained glass was designed by us and made by Sarah Marnier. The eternal flame has a low voltage light behind it to emphasise the glow.

Inside the cabinet is more lighting and bespoke holders to keep the scrolls from moving around. There is also a drawer in the base of the cabinet.

The hand cut Hebrew lettering on the top curve were fumed oak as well as the roundel details to give definition against the ash.
